A Unique Thai Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale: Larb Thai-Isan
During COVID, when we go dining out we get to-go or find a restaurant with outdoor sitting. Desi found an authentic Thai restaurant “Larb Thai-Isan” on yelp, so we decided to give this place a try. They have two small tables outside as their designated outdoor sitting area. When we went into the restaurant, the waitress told us to sit anywhere outside and she will be there to serve us. The waitress was nice; she bought us both well-wrapped dinnerware, and a bottle of hand sanitizer for the table.
We proceed to order our drinks, I had ordered a Thai tea. The tea was strong with the perfect amount of milk, and just the right amount of sweetness. Desi ordered the roselle drink, which is the same as agua de jamaica; she also enjoyed her drink.
We want to try something different than what we usually order. So I ordered the “Bamee Pu-Moo Daeng(Dry)” and Desi ordered the “Kra Pao”.
This is what I ordered, the Bamee Pu-Moo Daeng (Dry). It has egg noodle on the bottom and have bbq pork with fried garlic oil, kale, and crab meat on top.
This is what Desi ordered, the “Kra Pao”. It has Thai spicy stir-fried grounded chicken or pork with chili garlic and holy basil sauce with a fried egg on top. She had ordered the version of grounded chicken.
We both have a preference toward the entree Desi ordered, it was much more special than the dish I ordered. The dish I ordered felt more like a cold dish and each ingredient felt separated and lack cohesiveness. The components of the dish Desi ordered meshed well; the side of fish sauce was a nice addition, and the chili garlic and basil sauce worked well together. There was also a fried egg on top, which was a really nice addition to the dish.
I went ahead and ordered another drink, this is the Thai iced coffee. It tasted pretty strong and it’s really similar to Vietnamese iced coffee.
The mango sticky rice is a must-have in any Thai restaurant; if the mango is in season, most Thai restaurants would offer this. The dish is made with sweet coconut milk fresh mango and sticky rice. We were very full, but we had to get this!
The Thai Taxi bike inside the restaurant is cute and perfect photo to put on Instagram !!! All in all we recommend that you check this restaurant out if you are in the Fort Lauderdale area, and we can’t wait to go back.
